Terms and conditions

for The Barcelona Taste tours and excursions

Our Overall Approach

We support and are advocates for responsible tourism. We respect Barcelona’s neighbourhoods and collaborate with carefully-selected, small, local businesses in order to support the local economy. We run small, discreet tours to minimize adverse impacts of mass tourism.

Liability

The Barcelona Taste and its tour guides do not accept responsibility for any injury, loss, theft, damage or unexpected events that might occur during the tours. We recommend purchasing medical and/or travel insurance, now also covering COVID-19, to protect you and your ticket purchases against cases of illness, flight/train/bus delays or cancellations. You agree that The Barcelona Taste is not liable for loss associated with any unforeseen event and all claims must be processed through the guest’s insurance company directly.

Tour Running

Our Barcelona Tapas Tours typically last 2-3.5 hours and you can expect to be standing or walking most of the time. We try to walk at a very relaxed pace between establishments. There will usually be at least 3 spots to sit during the tour. Tours are normally run with 6 or fewer guests; we may extend this to a 7th guest to accommodate a lone traveller or other special request, particularly during our peak periods.

Our premium wine and food excursions are typically 7 hours long, and at the vineyards we will be on foot; the rest of the travel is done via private car. Groups are typically 3-6 but we can adjust this within reason as requested by the group leader. Occasionally, as we work with one of the region’s best and most popular vineyards, one of the vineyard tours may be joined by other guests; at the other vineyard, with which we work on an exclusive basis, the tour will always be private (just your party, your guide, and the vineyard team).

Tours will occur in rain or shine. Please check the weather conditions on the day of your tour and dress appropriately. (Luckily, it doesn’t rain very often here!)

Guests are responsible for looking after their own personal belongings while on tour.  Do not leave bags on the floor unattended or hanging on the back of a chair.

Guests with infants and toddlers up to the age of 3 need not purchase a ticket for them. However, we do still ask that when purchasing tickets, you note that you will have an infant/small child with you, otherwise we cannot reserve an appropriate amount of space.

Guests with special dietary requirements or requests should inform us at least 24 hours before the tour operates so that we can liaise with the restaurants and plan accordingly.

Cancellations, Refunds, Exchanges

We recommend purchasing medical and/or travel insurance to protect you and your ticket purchases against cases of flight/train/bus delays or cancellations. You agree that The Barcelona Taste is not liable for loss associated with any unforeseen event and all claims must be processed through the guest’s insurance company directly.

Full refunds are available up to 48 hours prior to the start of the tour. Due to our logistics and the arrangements we have with the venues we visit on our tours, we are unable to offer refunds on bookings made fewer than 48 hours before a tour begins. Please note that private tours must be confirmed at least one week in advance and are non-refundable.

Wine excursions are fully refundable up to one week prior to the day of the tour.

On the rare occasion of cancellation of a tour by us, The Barcelona Taste, we will try to arrange another tour time with our guest(s). If this is not possible, a full refund will be issued.

If you or any member of your party becomes unwell and can no longer attend, please contact us. If you have any COVID-19 symptoms do not attend your tour and do not come to the tour meeting point. We understand from previous clients that individual medical/travel insurance should normally compensate you for your missed activity (contact your travel insurance provider directly).

Per local regulations, restaurants may be required to verify COVID vaccination in order for guests to gain entry. It is the requirement of guests to ensure they have the appropriate documentation with them when attending our experiences.

Re-bookings, or exchanging tickets purchased for one date for another date, can occasionally be honoured on case by case basis, but are not guaranteed. Re-bookings depend on tour place(s) availability and the availability of our restaurants and guides.

Gift cards are valid for two years and may be used to pay for tickets on our tapas tours; unused gift cards will not be refunded, may not be redeemed beyond their period of validity, and cannot be exchanged for use on a different type of experience (such as a wine excursion).

Lateness, Illness, Intoxication & No-show

Guides will depart at the stated tour start time with those present; they have no choice but to consider the guests that arrived in good time as well as the time sensitive reservations we have made with our venues. A similar rule of thumb applies to private tours, as we make commitments with restaurants at set times.

Lateness for a wine excursion may affect the tour schedule and in some instances may preclude guests from visiting both vineyards that are normally incorporated in the day.

By purchasing a ticket, you agree to self-certify that you and those in your party will comply with the event’s safety measures including attending free of coronavirus symptoms, wearing face coverings, following directions relating to maintaining social distancing, and accept that violation of policies will cause removal from the event without refund.

In light of our duty of care for the guides, restaurant partners and other guests, and in compliance with the terms of our insurance, any guests that arrive intoxicated may be asked to leave and will not be issued any refund.

As we work with very small, local restaurants and vineyards who purchase and prepare food and drink specifically for our guests, we are unable to refund tickets in the event of non-attendance (no-show).

Private Group Bookings

Private Barcelona Taste tours are approximately 3 hours in length and visit 2-4 establishments depending on group size. We can typically accommodate private tour bookings of between 1 and 12 guests. Larger groups may be split into concurrent tours given the small size of the local establishments with which we work.

Private group food tour tickets must be purchased at least one week in advance by the organizer(s); this way we can work with the restaurants to source the very best local food to suit the needs of your party.

Private tours are available Mondays – Saturdays (inclusive) on most, but not all, of our tours (most of our restaurants are closed on Sundays and Monday but if you are only interested in these days do get in touch and we’ll see what we can do!).

Private tour tickets are non-refundable and cannot be re-scheduled.

It is the private booking organizer’s responsibility to advise The Barcelona Taste of any allergies or other dietary requirements several days in advance of the tour date.

Tours are never cancelled due to weather.
