Frequently Asked Questions
Absolutely! Barcelona is packed with amazing food, but knowing where to go is the real challenge. A food tour saves you from the tourist traps and takes you straight to the best, most authentic spots. You’ll taste the true flavors of Barcelona, hear the stories behind the dishes, and experience the city like a local—not just a visitor. Plus, let’s be honest, wandering the Gothic Quarter or El Born with a glass of vermut in hand is much more fun when you have an expert guide leading the way.
Barcelona’s culinary scene is a delicious mix of Catalan tradition and Mediterranean influences. You can’t leave without trying pa amb tomàquet (bread rubbed with tomato and olive oil), jamón ibérico (cured ham that melts in your mouth), and the legendary patatas bravas (crispy potatoes with spicy sauce). Seafood lovers, get ready for suquet de peix (a rich fish stew), and of course, a visit isn’t complete without indulging in crema catalana, the local (and arguably superior) version of crème brûlée.
Yes, absolutely. There’s a Catalan concept, gaudir, which means to enjoy or take pleasure in something deeply. That’s the feeling we believe every visitor should experience in Barcelona.
You’ll find that spirit of gaudir from locals when you connect with the city respectfully. It’s found when you support the bustling local markets like Santa Caterina, help keep the narrow streets of the Gothic Quarter quiet at night, and take time to appreciate the incredible Modernista architecture. This is the authentic Barcelona experience.
It’s this connection we create on our Eating Europe tours. We step away from the crowds and take you to the places locals truly love, introducing you to the people behind the food and the stories that make this city one of a kind.
