Go off the beaten path for an authentic immersion in extraordinary tapas

Poble-Sec (Catalan for 'Dry village') is Barcelona’s old but vibrant performing arts district, a centrally located neighbourhood boasting elegant 19th-century architecture and the best hidden gem restaurants in town.

The neighbourhood has a rich history, having once been outside of the city’s walls and inhabited mainly by residents that couldn’t afford the higher prices for accommodation inside the walls. Nowadays it is known more for its ample offering of theatres and nightclubs, making it Barcelona’s top entertainment district.

Despite being so close to key landmarks of Barcelona, it doesn’t tend to be nearly as crowded or full of tourists as some other neighbourhoods. Plaça Espanya borders it to the west, the Ramblas or Boquería to the north and the port, museums and World Trade Center to the east. But here one can enjoy an evening here and see a “real” part of the city – an area much less inundated by tourists.

We fell in love with Poble Sec because of the incredible culinary offering it has had for the past few decades. The neighbourhood is a hotbed of young chefs running some of the most exciting restaurants in the city. This makes it the perfect setting for a tapas tour – the food is exceptional, with key traditional dishes offered with a little contemporary twist that go beyond the obvious, standard tapas.

Want to eat where the locals eat? See the real Barcelona and enjoy a more adventurous tapas offering? This is the tapas tour for you!

Absolutely worth the money We did the Poble-Sec tapas & had an amazing experience. The small group setting is perfect & we all immediately became friends. There was a ton of food & it was absolutely worth the money. Overall an absolute recommend & I would definitely do one of their tours again if I'm back in BCN!

Great food and more Not only did we have great food, but lots of small details on the buildings in the Gothic area and some history of Barcelona along the way. The group was a great size - we could all squeeze around a table together making it a friendly experience. Do this early in your stay and you will know what to order!

Barcelona at its best! Booking a tour with Taste of Barcelona was one of the best travel decisions we’ve made. Tito’s genuine interest in showcasing the city and culture through its food and wine resulted in an evening that was both educational and festive. It was like dining with a knowledgeable friend. We would happily take this tour on repeat!

An excellent experience We were very glad to have booked the Barcelona Taste on the first full day of our one week stay in Barcelona. The small group was perfect. Thanks so much for introducing us to the local vermut; we had one nearly every day of our visit to Barcelona. I would highly recommend the Barcelona Taste especially for first time visitors to Barcelona.

Great food, drinks and Info! Esther gave us a wonderful tapas tour and took us to places that we would never have found on our own. One had a 30 person line in front and they took us right in. Interesting drinks, food and history, she made it come alive!! Be sure and come hungry and thirsty!

Awesome, fun and tasty experience - very high end! This was a top notch tour! We easily found Esther at the bakery, our starting point, just at the top of the Metro entrance (hint: easy to get to!). We visited 3 tapas restaurants, each of which was superb. All the foods and wine were top quality. This is a don't miss tour!

The Barcelona Taste: because it's delicious

Barcelona is a major tourist destination – the number of guidebooks and websites devoted to the city is overwhelming! Which is why we started The Barcelona Taste ... to save you time so you can experience the best food Barcelona has to offer while side-stepping the crowds.

We take you to small, local businesses offering delicious, top quality food restaurants on our scrumptious tours – because they’re great. We visit, we taste and then we visit again and taste again. Ad infinitum! That’s our research.

We don’t take a “pile ‘em high” approach with our guests. Our focus is on providing the best possible quality in everything we do. This includes limiting our tours to very small numbers, to give personal attention and feed everyone well.
