Poble-Sec: Thu 11 May 2023, 7.00 pm - 10.00 pm

Evening Tapas Tour

Poble-Sec is Barcelona’s old but vibrant performing arts district, a centrally located neighbourhood boasting elegant 19th-century architecture. Despite being so close to key landmarks of Barcelona, it doesn’t tend to be nearly as crowded or full of tourists as some other neighbourhoods.

We fell in love with Poble Sec because of the incredible culinary offering. The neighbourhood is a hotbed of young chefs running some of the most exciting restaurants in the city. This makes it the perfect setting for a tapas tour!

What could you be eating on your Barcelona tapas tour?

The great thing about tapas is that there's always something for everyone. Whether you love meat, fish, vegetables – or all of the above – there's sure to be a delicious dish to devour. Here's some samples to whet your appetite...

About this Evening Tapas Tour

An evening tapas tour with The Barcelona Taste is like dinner out with friends of a friend - at some of the best restaurants in town. Our tour groups are typically no larger than 6, meaning we can keep things intimate and discreetly visit the highest quality small food establishments... those most loved by locals.

You will visit three of the best restaurants and specialty food shops in Barcelona, where you get to eat plenty of food and your choice of top quality drink (alcoholic or non-alcoholic).

You share a personal, relaxed evening with a local guide, who will leads you safely through Barcelona. Conversations will flow, be they about the neighbourhood, each dish that we order, Barcelona life, culture and history and any and everything else that comes up throughout the course of the night.

About our tour location: Poble-Sec

Poble-Sec (Catalan for 'Dry village') is Barcelona’s old but vibrant performing arts district, a centrally located neighbourhood boasting elegant 19th-century architecture. The neighbourhood is so named because it had no source of water, until a fountain was built in the late 19th century. Prior to this, the area was outside of the city’s walls and inhabited mainly by residents that couldn’t afford the higher prices for accommodation inside the walls. Once incorporated ( a small section of the original wall can still be found at the end of Paral·lel) it became a dynamic part of Barcelona, generating electricity that would power the city’s development throughout the late 19th century and well into the 20th. Nowadays it is known more for its ample offering of theatres and nightclubs, making it Barcelona’s top entertainment district.

Despite being so close to key landmarks of Barcelona, it doesn’t tend to be nearly as crowded or full of tourists as some other neighbourhoods. Plaça Espanya borders it to the west, the Ramblas or Boquería to the north and the port, museums and World Trade Center to the east. But here one can enjoy an evening here and feel like they’re seeing a “real” part of the city – an area much less inundated by tourists.

We fell in love with Poble Sec because of the incredible culinary offering it has had for the past few decades. The neighbourhood is a hotbed of young chefs running some of the most exciting restaurants in the city. This makes it the perfect setting for a tapas tour – the food is exceptional, with key traditional dishes offered with a little contemporary twist.

Delicious afternoon off the beaten path in Eixample This was our first and finest meal in Barcelona. We were in a non-touristy part of Eixample and places we certainly would not have found on our own! The variety of tapas and beverages was perfect. All in all, if felt like we were sharing a meal with a new friend.

The range of the offerings was great! We really enjoyed it! Lorea was an excellent hostess and very knowledgeable. The food was excellent at all the spots that she took us to and they were far enough off the beaten path, that we would have never discovered them on our own. I highly recommend this tour and taking it early in your trip so you can enjoy other recommended places.

Delicious! The tour was fantastic! We got to taste delicious food at restaurants we never would have found on our own, or gotten into. It was a lovely way to explore the Gothic Quarter. The follow up email with additional recommendations was much appreciated!

Food and drinks were amazing We went out to get tapas the day before our food tour, and we thought we could skip it - we were wrong! The places Lorea took us were the BEST restaurants we went to on our trip. Highly recommend.

Money and precious time well spent! Our guide was genuine, funny, and so welcoming. We had tons of tapas and beverages all of which were amazing and authentic! Our guide discussed so, so much with us - the very next day we are hitting 3 of her locals only suggestions and feeling very impressed! This is money and precious time well spent!

Food, Fun, and a dash of history thrown in. Like having a fun friend show you all the best spots. And although none of us had food/allergy restrictions she made sure to inquire and was at the ready to ensure everyone had a great time with some delicious food.

There was a variety of dishes and drinks, all different and all mouthwatering. It was a really lovely evening, so thanks Maria, we went to places that we would never have found on our own!

One of our absolute favorite experiences It was like sitting down with an old friend who knows all of the good spots to eat. It was a great first night in Barcelona and helped us navigate the tapas scene in El Born and the Gothic Quarter for the remainder of our trip. Our teenage kids also thought this was one of their favorite things we did on our trip. Great experience all together.
